Anti-radiation patches have no proven benefit, but Enjoyphoenix promotes them anyway

Anti-radiation patches have no proven benefit, but Enjoyphoenix promotes them anyway

On May 4, 2022, enjoyphoenix, the influencer known to all, promoted on her anti-radiation patch networks. The problem ? It is that no study proves that it works and these small accessories can even represent a danger… We explain to you.

Migraines, dizziness, nausea, sleep disturbances, fatigue, burning sensation, tingling in the hands, irritability… these symptoms are sometimes associated, by those who feel them, with wave intolerance. Even if the causality is not proven between these very real evils which can ruin people’s lives and waves, the latter do indeed exist: they are emitted naturally by all everyday wireless devices, from the Internet box to the smartphone. These uncertainties around electro-sensitivity do not prevent companies from making their money on “miracle” solutions, sold by influencers. And you have to be careful.

Just yesterday, Marie Lopez aka @Enjoyphoenix, influencer with 5.5 million followers on Instagram, promoted through a paid partnership of a supposed gadget create a magnetic barrier to protect against the waves emanating from our mobile phones. A metallic pellet created by the Swiss brand fazup to stick directly on the phone that claims to reduce or cancel symptoms attributed to the waves.

“Fazup is not a simple sticker, but a passive antenna that sticks precisely to the antenna of your mobile thanks to the installation tool provided. It regulates the emission of mobile waves at the source, and reduces your exposure, but does not eliminate 100% of the waves”, explains the main interested party on her Insta stories which span 7 slides and obviously lead to a -20% promo code.

Hmm… Really?

The problem is that absolutely nothing proves that these patches really work. False promises that we went to check on an FAQ devoted to public exposure to the waves where the National Frequency Agency explains that «  anti-radiation devices intended to be placed on or near the antenna of the mobile phone do not show significant protection efficiency for all the mobile phones and frequency bands tested. »

The latter also refers to the work carried out in 2013 by the National Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety (ANSES) on the subject. Thirteen devices had been tested and here are the conclusions of this study:

“Anti-radiation devices intended to be placed on or near the antenna of the mobile phone do not show significant protection efficiency for all the mobile phones and frequency bands tested. No conclusion can therefore be drawn as to their effectiveness in reducing the level of DAS. »

ANSES has also explained that « Protections that modify the radio performance of mobile phones, for example by degrading the reception capacities, risk, under real conditions of use, increasing the level of exposure of the ‘user « . Our colleagues from Numerama have explained extensively why consumer devices emitting waves were also proven risk-free and very controlled in France.

Anti-wave patch for Smartphone, effectiveness far from being scientifically proven

Mobilization based on fear

Enjoyphoenix was not the only influencer contacted by Fazup. Many of them have promoted this sticker with outlandish promises. The purpose of the maneuver? According to a survey conducted by BFM Business : frighten young mothers or people wishing to have children, inviting Instagrammers to remember that children absorb ten times more waves than adults. Obviously, no scientific source is cited.

The founders themselves have no proof of effectiveness

Interviewed about the effectiveness of the products they market by Capital, the two founders of Fazup admitted that they had no proof revealing the real effectiveness of their stickers. They also admit to playing on words (to avoid criminal consequences): “We write for example that our product eliminates the feeling of headaches, not that it eliminates headaches. If people understand otherwise, that’s their problem. « .

A vague discourse that continues to spread on a large scale, because by targeting influencers with impressive audiences like Enjoyphoenix, sales of these small products may skyrocket. No matter their usefulness or the proven existence of what they claim to fight.
