He takes the EuroMillions jackpot but returns to work at Lidl!

The truck driver for German discounter Lidl hid his secret during the Covid-19 pandemic, when the government needed workers.

He chose to hide from Lidl, his company, that he had won a million pounds in the national lottery. In fact, it all dates back to 2019.

Steve Schiltz wins his jackpot. But the Covid-19 pandemic has hit the world and the government is short of manpower, including Lidl truck drivers.

The man is a truck driver for Lidl. He receives a letter asking him to come to work.

Many people received the same letter, but few were millionaires, he smiles today.

It made me special, so I didn’t hesitate for a second. I was happy to help out and get back to work, he told the Mirror.

He adds: This meant that instead of taking money out, he went to the bank account. From then on, the 50-year-old continued to drive the trucks around Wales so that customers could continue to shop.

Holidays, new car but same house

What prompted him to do this? His love of the profession of course, but also the example of his wife who also continued to work during the pandemic as a trainer in the health sector.

She loved her job too much to quit, but decided to switch to a four-day week anyway. The couple also offered themselves a stay in the Maldives and a change of car, going from a Fiat Multipla to a magnificent Range Rover Discovery. But they did not change house.

According to Steve and his wife, their good fortune is partly due to the death of their daughter at the age of 16, who is now their guardian angel.

According to the Mirror, he ran the London Marathon the following year to raise money for sick children. The couple have decided to continue playing EuroMillions, and if they win, they will donate the money to charity.

We were very lucky. It’s wonderful not to have to worry about money.

If we win again, it would be nice to share it with others, he comments.

Euromillions: a Corsican thought he had won 31,000 euros, he won more than a million!

He hadn’t seen that he had a lucky star on his grid. He had a pleasant surprise when he called the Française des Jeux to claim his prize.

Winning the Euromillions is already good. Finding out that you have won a much larger sum than expected is even better!

This is what happened to a Corsican last week, reports Corse Matin on Tuesday May 10. The man, who would regularly play the lottery, thought he would win 31,000 euros. But when he called the Française des Jeux (FDJ) to claim the sum, he had a good surprise: the Euromillions grid that he validated represented a jackpot of 1,222,000 euros.

In the rush, I didn’t see that I had a star, he explained. This inattention earned him more than a million euros. This type of oversight is better than forgetting or misplacing your ticket and losing your winnings, as happens regularly. Since 2020 and the entry into force of the Pacte law, if a winner does not collect his prize within 90 days, the money is therefore recovered by the State.

But the Euromillions seems to be making people happy right now. The draw on Tuesday May 10 resulted in the second biggest jackpot in history.

And it was a Briton who won it. The man won 215,840,341 euros. He also became the UK’s biggest Euromillions winner. The record is still held by a Polynesian player, who won 220 million euros in October 2021. The Corsican is still a long way off, but he can be happy to be a million euros richer.
