This Tuesday, May 24, the Paris Court of Appeal confirmed the dismissal in favor of the French director Luc Besson, accused in 2018 of sexual assault by actress Sand Van Roy, with whom he would have worked on at least three of his films. The Belgian-Dutch claims to have had a « professional relationship » with Luc Besson, during which he would have forced her four times. « The court confirmed the innocence of my clientsaid Me Thierry Marembert, Luc Besson’s lawyer, after the decision of the Court of Appeal. A dozen procedural initiatives by Ms. Van Roy all ended in the same way. Luc Besson regrets these four lost years. »

According to information from Closer, whose last issue will be available on newsstands this Friday, May 27, the director of Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets soon resumed his life. Even before the pronunciation of the dismissal, Luc Besson would have sold his Parisian apartment, located avenue Montaigne, and packed his bags for Los Angeles, where he started filming his next film, DogManof which the young Caleb Landry Jones should play the main role.

Sand Van Roy: « You humiliated me, defamed me, damaged me for life »

For his part, Sand Van Roy spoke on social networks, strongly condemning the decision of the Court of Appeal, whom she accuses of not having taken into account the expert opinions carried out following her complaint, which would corroborate her version of the facts. « You don’t give a damn about physical evidence and expertiseshe saddened in a long message. You humiliated me, defamed me, damaged me for life. You made my mother cry today and I will never forgive your country for that. You have succeeded in destroying everything I love. (…) Do not file a complaint. Especially not on the day of the facts. Especially not against Luc Besson. That’s it. I get it. » Me Antoine Gitton, one of the actress’ lawyers, has announced an appeal in cassation.
