Seen and read about PSG in the French press this Friday, April 8, 2022. The new financial fair play adopted by the UEFA executive committee, Aleksander Ceferin speaks about these changes, the comparison in figures between Karim Benzema and Kylian Mbappé and Marie-Antoinette Katoto in the center of the spotlight.
In today’s edition, The Parisian highlights the new financial fair play which was adopted by the UEFA executive committee this Thursday. A new version which will be more favorable to the PSG which will come into effect next season. First, a salary-cap is in place for all clubs participating in UEFA competitions. “This will be blocked at 70% of revenue. » Based on the figures for the previous year, the Parisian club would not be in the nails: “The 2020-2021 season made it possible to collect 556.2 million euros according to the annual report of the Deloitte firm. All for a payroll estimated at 502 million euros that season, or 90.2% of total revenue. » But the European body has planned three years of adaptation. “The salary cap should represent a total of 90% of revenue in 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 then 80% of revenue in 2024-2025”, before reaching the famous 70% only from 2025-2026. Failure to comply will result in graduated fines.
Another new rule adopted, tolerance on club deficits. In the old financial fair play, UEFA granted clubs the right to accumulate 30 million euros in debt over three seasons. A figure that will increase to 60 million euros over the same period (with a guarantee from the shareholder) and which can even go up to 90 million euros for a club deemed to be in good health. “In return, UEFA is tightening the noose on two points: unpaid bills (to other clubs for transfers, staff or administrations) and debt. » This last point will favor the PSG thanks to its shareholder. For their part, loss-making clubs will have to reduce their debt by 10% each year. Regarding the scale of sanctions, the European body provides for bans on recruiting, loan limitations, demotions from one European competition to another and penalty points from the 2024-2025 season.
This new financial fair play will therefore promote the PSG against a few historic clubs (FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, etc.). Indeed with certain rules, including the 70% salary cap which will see the light of day in a few years, the capital club has the financial margin necessary to extend Kylian Mbappe on a short term and with an XXL salary. In addition, if the salary cap is exceeded, « shareholders could choose, as is the case in the NBA, to pay fines, even high, rather than respecting the limit to the nearest euro »reports LP.
The Ile-de-France daily also obtained an interview with David Trezeguet. The former Blues striker was notably questioned about Kylian Mbappe. Excerpts shared here on our site.
On his side, The Team focuses on the two in-form attackers of the moment: Kylian Mbappe and Karim Benzema. The two French internationals shine with the PSG and the real Madrid since the start of the season. If Kylian has fewer goals than his French counterpart (28 goals against 37), “The Parisian is one of the best on the continent in the exercise of decisive passes (17), while his friend in the blue attack is also of the altruistic type (13 passes). » But to improve his statistics, the striker of PSG will only have the League 1. Regarding his heading game, the 23-year-old Frenchman can still improve compared to Karim Benzemawho excels in this field, as reported by the former Lyonnais, Sidney Govou. “Karim has made a lot of progress in this area. Mbappe doesn’t have that. Or not yet. He’s a little scared, I think. There is a real difference between the two in this register. But I am convinced, when you see its support, its power, that if Mbappe overcome this fear, he has the athletic side to go very high. He must break this psychological barrier to pass this stage. »
The president of UEFA, Aleksander Ceferinreacted to the change in financial fair play. “The first financial regulation has fulfilled its main objectives. It has lifted the finances of European football away from the edge of the precipice and revolutionized the way clubs operate. However, beyond the inevitable financial repercussions of the pandemic (a negative impact of €7 billion in two years), the football industry has changed and our sector needs a major reform and a new financial regulation. (…) It offers clubs more leeway. But evaluations will be carried out regularly and infringements will lead to financial and sporting sanctions. »
Currently with the French women’s team to play qualifying matches for the World Cup 2023 (against Wales this Friday and Slovenia next Tuesday), the player of the Women’s PSG, Marie Antoinette Katoto, will be the center of attention. As in recent months, the attacker will have to be decisive in a match at stake. But above all, she will put on the blue jersey for the first time since her » joint celebration with Kadidiatou Diani and dedicated to Aminata Diallo. » A gesture against Kheira Hamraoui (not selected for this gathering) and which had caused a small controversy. But this episode has since ended.
Additionally, the striker PSG has been in the spotlight since his statement on his future. La Titi put pressure on its leaders by publicly saying that it was in « complete disagreement » with the club about his extension (his contract ends in June). Despite the biggest contract proposal in the women’s sector, Marie Antoinette Katoto expects « true deeds » of its leaders. “Clearly, she believes that the general staff has not been involved enough in this file. The still pending future of Hamraoui, with whom she no longer wants to play but who is under contract until 2023, tenses the debates. »
