FIGARO LIVE – The comedian offers a new giant hoax, to discover this Thursday, May 5, 2022 in the first part of the evening on C8. Guest of « Buzz TV », the interpreter of MC Guillaume tells the backstage of a shoot that lasted nine hours.
THE TV BUZZ. – C8 draws a new episode of « Pire Gendre », this Thursday, May 5 in the first part of the evening. This time, you take on the role of MC Guillaume, this rapper in a relationship with Leslie, your accomplice… Who were you inspired by for this character? We sometimes hear the intonations of Orelsan...
Greg GUILLOTIN. – This character was born in “The Worst Intern”. We did two episodes with it, in job interview traps. But it was not as successful as today. I’ve been told this for a long time for Orelsan, long before I reworked the voice. It’s not done on purpose but why not. It’s a failed Orelsan. I think we have a bit the same tone of voice elsewhere.
In this new “Pire Gendre”, you go extremely far in the valve. You sing obscene songs, one of your accomplices, Bébert, walks around in his underpants in front of your guests, you smoke joints… How do you manage not to burst out laughing?
At one point, with one of my accomplices, the comedian Djimo, I laugh because his face made me laugh. With the grandmother too. I contain myself a lot all the same and, if I laugh, I act as if it was my character who was laughing.

Is your fake girlfriend Leslie an actress?
No and we must salute the performance of Leslie who had never played before. I found her extraordinary. She is not an actress, she is preparing to work in aesthetics in Montpellier. To choose the family, we are launching a call for applications on my social networks. We ask for people with temperament, values too. For this prank, the girl had to be single and both parents still together. We received 1000 applications. We did a first sorting, then we asked for photos, videos and then we had a short list of about ten girls who test their loved ones by showing a photo of me. If the family doesn’t recognize me, that’s a start.
In total, this prank lasted 9 hours. Finally, the public of C8 will see 2h30. What sequences did you decide to cut?
The sequences too « borderline » for TV. There is a sequence where I show the family an article from the Parisian in which there is written: « in 1995, a young man put a firecracker in the ass of a teacher because he had forced him to eat his broccoli in the canteen« . But it did not pass, compared to the drama Samuel Paty. Although the reactions of the family were very funny. It’s true when I wrote it naively, I didn’t think about the context. For other passages, we found compromises with C8. The cigarette is blurred and for the shisha, I explain that there are no drugs in it. Frankly, C8 has been flexible. MC Guillaume as a bonus, it’s not easy. There will be an uncensored extended version later on my YouTube channel.

Difficult to anticipate the reaction of the three people you trap. What is the part of improvisation in this exercise?
I think of this kind of prank as a movie, with sequences, from opening to final outcome. I have a 70-page canvas that I learn by heart. I ask Leslie, my accomplice, to do the same. There are unmistakable lines to launch the sequences after. There is of course improvisation. It’s 50/50.
Were there any unforeseen events in the trap broadcast this Thursday evening?
What surprised me is that Leslie’s loved ones react to everything for 9 hours! Generally, at the end, people are tired and cracking up. It was fabulous for me because I can tell you that we missed other traps before that one. We missed it four times before we succeeded. This bonus took us a year and a half of work. Two girls left us a week before filming. As for the other two, the reactions did not suit us at all. Either they were too violent or they weren’t there. The trap broadcast tonight was that of the last chance. If we couldn’t, our future was very compromised.

Yes, we have to reimburse everything, because it is C8 who finances. A premium like this costs around 100,000 euros. Missing four times, we nibbled the whole envelope.
Have you ever thought of making the « Pire Gendre » gay version?
Yes, we are asked very often and we would like to, but on one condition, that the family be tolerant. The goal is not to show homophobia. We want to show a beautiful image of the family. You just have to find the right character next to it.
