"I burst a little later": Louane looks back on the drama of her life, the death of her parents

Saturday May 14, 2022, Louane was invited to the show Sept à Huit, on TF1. Faced with Audrey Crespo-Mara, the singer revealed in The Voice spoke modestly of the death of her parents when she was a teenager.

That was almost ten years ago… In February 2013, before the broadcast of The Voicewhere she was a candidate, Louane lost his father, Jean-Pierre. A year later, it was his mother, Isabelle, who died of cancer. While the singer lost her parents very young, it is in the show seven to eight, on TF1, that Audrey Crespo-Mara noted that she could have shattered. In all transparency, the artist confided: « I think I was very, very well surrounded. And then I really locked myself into work, because I needed to do something else. Clearly, being able to concentrate on the album, go on tour quickly… I think that really saved me. » Louane then added: « I think I broke a little later. But, at the time, it gave me strength. It held me in place and kept me going. Even if I took a long time to mourn, it was much sweeter.«

If she lost her parents very early, the singer learned a lot from them. « Values are not inculcated only by words. So seeing my parents always reaching out, always helping, that’s definitely something that marked me. And then there was this thing of saying that you always had to try and give your all. It’s inside of me. I do everything thoroughly« , she let go. In order to evoke her mourning, Louane confided in the song Maman. She said about it: « What more do I have to say on that? Me, I don’t want to make people cry in the cottages and say: ‘Oh my God, what a difficult destiny!’ I have nothing but time. There is no one who has nothing but time. If there was a bereavement medicine, we would know! So yes, when I need to talk about it, I put it in my songs. It’s been ten years and I still talk about it.«

Louane: « It will never be a card that I will use »

Already guest on the show seven to eight in June 2018, the young mother revealed: « My father was strong-willed and my mother was a workhorse. I think both of them fed me a lot when I was younger. My mother had this sentence that she always said to me: ‘If you want to do things, do them and whatever happens, whether you succeed or not, at least you will have the satisfaction of having do things thoroughly. It’s kind of my mantra, kind of what I tell myself every morning.« During this interview, Louane revealed that she did not want to talk about her parents »unless it serves a cause. » Assuring that she didn’t want to do « pathos« , she added: « It will never be my signature, it will never be a card that I will use. Indeed, I talk about it in my music, I talk about it in my songs, it necessarily influenced the way I built myself.«
